PASTEL is a pure pigment, the same pigment used in making all fine art paints. It is a permanent medium and when framed under glass will keep its color and brilliance for many generations. Pastel is often preferred for children's portraits because it has a soft and subtle quality. OIL painting is a traditional and prestigious medium for portraits. It often allows for more detail and the lustrous surface does not require framing with glass. Sizes larger than 22"x28" can also be painted in oil, on canvas. ~ Please note ~ Hands, intricate fabrics, jewelry, complicated backgrounds and inclusion of animals are subject to extra fees. A one-half deposit is required on a portrait commission painted from photographs.
